This week I have been lucky enough to be at work experience with Thunderbolt Digital who are a bespoke website design and marketing company offering services across London, Surrey and the surrounding counties. It has been a great week and I have learnt a lot. Being only 15 I have never been exposed to the working world before, so working at Thunderbolt has been a completely new experience but a great one!
Not knowing a lot about marketing and website design it has been an eye opener to myself in what happens behind the scenes in website designing, and how the use of SEO (search engine optimisation) helps make you the number one site when typed into the internet. Over the course of the week, I have worked with different sectors of the company, learning their roles and how their jobs contribute to the end product. This has been a big help to me, as I have found out the route they took to getting their job, and what it involves.
One of the skills that I have obtained this week include using Google AdWords to find keywords for both websites and blogs. I was also lucky enough to join the team in a pitch to ‘Drink in Tube’ where Thunderbolt was presenting the final few versions of a new website (which Thunderbolt had designed) to the board members. This trip was very interesting and was a great insight into how to present a pitch successfully. Before going to the pitch I was also treated to a lovely lunch from Saybhan (So I would just like to say another big thank you!). I have also been helping with the marketing on social media – this has included uploading content on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. This is the newest way to market your company – as nearly all people are now on these social media channels so it is the best way to communicate and interact with your customers
So finally I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Thunderbolt digital for inviting me into the company for a week. It has been an amazing week, and every member of the team have been welcoming and supporting, all contributing to an amazing week!
