“Exceptional Customer Service” Grumpy Monkey S “Exceptional Customer Service”
Grumpy Monkey Socks UK is an online retailer that sells unique and fashionable clothing targeting a young sporty market. Jamie co-owner of Grumpy Monkey initially migrated his website from a hosting provider in South Africa. This is when he started to encounter problems because when migrating the site to the UK server some of the functionality stopped working. This meant that key elements of the website, such as the shopping cart, wouldn’t work with the payment gateways.
Grumpy Monkey then consulted with a web agency who promised them that they could do everything in-house from design to web development. The agency kept referring to them as a team, but Jamie the owner only ever met one person and was often let down with deadlines and delivery of a new website. On calling Thunderbolt Jamie was disheartened with the quality of web agencies that he had spoken to and Thunderbolt was his last call before he gave up trying to find a professional organisation. From day 1 he spoke to Thunderbolt’s Managing Director who introduced him to the whole team that would be dealing with Grumpy Monkey Socks. We have taken him through all the processes and helped him to get back on track.
Jamie from Grumpy Monkey said:
“This is the agency I was hoping to have met in the first instance and I am over the moon with the customer service that I have received.”

Is it ever a good idea to return to your old job? Is it ever a good idea to return to your old job? - Poppy Rippon

There is no denying 2020 was a strange year all, but for me it was a year of big adventure with a slight pinch of uncertainty.

Having started at Thunderbolt after a Fine Art degree, I honestly had no idea what I was getting into. I had begun as an admin assistant & had little to no experience in anything related to digital marketing or web design, but something suddenly lit up inside of me.

Thunderbolt helped me enormously in growing my confidence, and helped remove any imposter syndrome I had, I got qualified in PRINCE2, realised that was incredibly boring (sorry!) and it didn’t really fit in the projects we were working on. So I then got qualified in Agile Project Management. I became Operations Manager within two years, and began running the operations for the company, something I never thought I would see myself doing.

After a while of doing this, wanderlust came knocking on my door and I left Thunderbolt and took off for a while to go and see some of the world. So, after 2 years of travelling I got back home to the impending doom of being unemployed & not having a clue about how I would get a job in the current climate.

Whilst applying for jobs and not getting very far, I toyed with the idea of returning to Thunderbolt. Is it ever good to return to a place you previously worked? Would they even have me back? However, when Saybhan got in touch & offered me my old position back, I grabbed the opportunity.

Things have changed in the 2 years I was away. Processes are different, the team has grown & changed, the clients are bigger. However, some things have remained the same; the ‘work hard, play hard’ mantra, the weekly quiz, the passion of the team in order to provide an excellent service to our clients and to see Thunderbolt grow.

For me the answer is yes. If you loved where you worked, if the management was right & the company ethos was one you believed in, then why not?
What’s It Like To Start A New Job, With No Exper What’s It Like To Start A New Job, With No Experience, Not Meeting Your Boss or Colleagues? Welcome To My Job In The Middle Of A Pandemic.

Social Media Takeover from our Digital Marketing Executive, Sophie.

I started working at Thunderbolt a few weeks after finishing University and therefore didn't have much (or any) experience working in a corporate workplace. And to top it off, I was completely new to digital marketing. After graduating in the midst of a global pandemic, I was faced with the very real possibility of unemployment & wondered how I would get a job in the current climate. I started to explore available jobs and came across a Digital Marketing Executive position at Thunderbolt Digital. I had my virtual interview - a first for both me and Thunderbolt - and I was thrilled to discover I was successful. My first 2 weeks at Thunderbolt were non-stop training and I was fascinated by the subject matter. It was a new experience for me and Thunderbolt, since neither of us had ever had to give or receive training entirely online and via video calls.

Starting work during a pandemic was a very interesting experience to say the least. I met all of the team virtually online and it wasn’t until 2 months of working for Thunderbolt that I finally met my boss and line manager, and got to see the office for the first time. It’s a very strange experience meeting someone face to face for the first time, when you’ve spoken on voice calls everyday for 2 months. Trying to match voices with names and get to grips with everything felt very surreal.

I have daily calls with all of the team and I feel I’ve got to know them all very well. But it’s crazy when I remind myself that the only people I’ve met are my boss and line manager - and that I’ve never actually been face to face with 90% of the team.

So what was it like starting work remotely in the middle of a pandemic? Strange and different? Absolutely! But a fun and exciting experience no less.

We’re delighted to work with Life Made Simple Ph We’re delighted to work with Life Made Simple Physiotherapy, a Surrey based physiotherapy practice, specialising in physiotherapy care, health & well-being. Their client focused physiotherapy service helps clients attain greater freedom of movement, less musculoskeletal pain, & enhanced well-being. This is usually achieved through a series of visits to help with a client’s individual needs.

Life Made Simple came to us 3 months ago to grow their local business & increase bookings for their website, lifemadesimple.co.uk. When they came to us they had very few website visitors & limited online bookings so they wanted help with SEO. By formulating a localised SEO strategy we increased their website traffic by 2600%. We started getting conversions for SEO in the 2nd month & we received a number of new enquiries that led to appointments. We’re continuing to see a steady increase in web traffic & conversions, and are confident that they will continue to see great results.

Esther Dadswell, representing Life Made Simple, said: “We’ve used Thunderbolt previously for a more established company we own & we know they get the results. I wanted to send our thanks for all your help in the evolution of the business, we are very pleased with the results.”
